Origins of Skateboarding
Surfers and skaters go back to their roots

As early as the 1950's, surfers were ripping apart their roller skates and nailing the trucks to planks of wood. The demand to keep the stoke alive and surf had moved to the sidewalks and parking lots from San O to Malibu. Soon after the 1960’s, with the help of surf movies, skateboarding became huge and got consolidated as its own sport, forever dividing the two.

Surfers still skate and some happen to rip. As the modern surf industry has moved away from the skateboarding roots, we thought we should bring it back, with some of Orange County’s best Surfer/Skaters. Click on image to check out full photo gallery!
